Shared Taxis — Letting Drivers See Your Trip
Version 1.2 · GZ-08-0021 · Last updated 18 October 2026
This is what you agree to when you turn on Let drivers see where I'm going in Shared Taxis. It is short on purpose: it covers one choice, and everything else about how GetZuga handles your information is in our Privacy Policy.
1. It is your choice, and saying no costs you nothing
This is off unless you turn it on. It is never switched on for you, and nothing in the app is withheld if you leave it off.
Searching for a shared taxi works exactly the same either way. You can look for a taxi going your way without letting anyone see your trip. Turning this on is a separate thing you can choose to do.
2. What drivers can see
When you turn it on, drivers can see:
- that someone is heading to the place you chose — a named area, never a street address;
- roughly where you are — to within about a kilometre, never your exact location;
- when your trip will stop being shown.
They cannot see your name, your photo, your phone number, your rating, or your exact location, and nothing they are shown tells them who you are. Your location is rounded to about a kilometre before it is saved, so a precise position is never stored to be shown.
3. Who can see it
Every driver using Shared Taxis in your country — not only drivers near you, and not only drivers going your way. A driver whose route matches your trip sees it marked as a match, but drivers whose route does not match can still see it.
We would rather tell you that plainly than let "drivers near you" suggest a smaller audience than the real one.
4. How long it lasts
- It turns off by itself after 30 minutes, and from then on nobody can see it in the app.
- You can turn it off sooner, at any time.
- If you turn it off yourself, or post a new trip, your old trip is deleted straight away — removed, not hidden.
If it turns off by itself, it is hidden at once and deleted within a day.
There is one exception, and it applies in every case above: when we must keep records about you for a legal matter that is still open. Your trip is then kept, still hidden in the app, until that matter no longer needs it, and deleted within a day after that. If we cannot check at that moment whether such a matter exists, we treat it as if one does: your trip still disappears at once, and if no such matter exists, it is deleted within a day of our being able to check.
5. Who can use it
Posting a trip is only for riders aged 18 or over, and you will be asked to confirm that you are before you can turn it on.
6. What we keep about your choice
We keep a record that you agreed, which version of this page you agreed to, and when. We have to be able to show that you chose this, so that record stays even after your trip is deleted. It does not include where you were going.
If we change what this page says, we will ask you again. You agreed to these words; a changed sentence is not something you agreed to.
7. The words you will see in the app
So you can check that what the app says matches this page, these are the exact words. The parts in brackets are filled in by the app.
The switch
Let drivers see where I'm going
Shown with the switch, before you turn it on
Drivers using Shared Taxis in [your country] will see that someone is heading to [the place you chose], and roughly where you are — to within about a kilometre. They won't see your name, your photo, your number or your exact location.
This turns off by itself after 30 minutes, and you can turn it off sooner. If you turn it off, it's deleted, unless we must keep it for a legal matter that is still open.
Shown once, after you turn it on
Your trip is now visible to Shared Taxis drivers in [your country]. Turn it off any time.
